Don’t Forget the Garage!
June 19, 2010 by Gwen · 2 Comments
Always keep the GARAGE DOORS DOWN while your home is on the market. And if you’re not using the garage for storage, keep cars in the garage and NOT in the driveway. You want the driveway to look spacious. And potential buyers need to be able to approach the front door with ease.
If you’ve properly prepared your house for sale, chances are you’ll have put some items in storage – perhaps in the garage. If you don’t have any other storage options and you have to use part of the garage for storage, that’s okay. But make sure the garage is swept out, clean and neat.
Like every other room in the house, make sure the light bulbs are working.
Move boats & RVs to a storage facility or a neighbor’s home several homes away until your home sells.
Well done! Here’s to a fast and successful sale!

Thanks for your comments. It’s so exciting to see the transformation of a home to a house when it’s properly prepared for sale. You’re right. Buyers want to see what features are available. And it puts the Home Inspector in a good mood too!
Great tips Gwen! It’s amazing how quickly a few blemishes on the curb appeal of your home can turn off potential buyers. No one likes to see a home front cluttered with vehicles, boats, or RVs, what people really want to see is the front of the home itself and what features are available. A garage can be a huge selling point for a handyman or for people in snowy climates like ours.
